Cultivation in Asia and a cost-cutting worldwide program helped Estee Lauder's surrogate-quarter profit rise 62 percent, and the attendance said it sees signs that consumer spending is stabilizing.

The maker of Clinique and Aveda products, which raised its instruction last week, said Thursday that better-than-expected wen at airport stores and strong holiday sales boosted its results.

Even some valuable products did well. Popular sellers included Advanced Round-the-clock Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex skin treatment — an ounce of which costs $47.50. Clinique's Damsel Surge line of moisturizers also saw strong sales.

Every three months profit rose to $256.2 million, or $1.28 per ration, from $158 million, or 80 cents per share a year earlier. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters predicted a profit of $1.21 per cut.

Revenue rose 11 percent to $2.26 billion, from $2.04 billion last year. Analysts predicted yield of $2.24 billion.

It was the first sales increase in a year, led by higher outer layer and hair care product sales, while fragrance sales declined.

This newbie has one of the more sui generis wands that I've seen in a while. It's been labelled a "willow wand" by Clinique; unquestionably because it's green and curved at an angle that allows you to follow the unartificial arch of your lash line. The wand features a whole piles of fine-toothed 'spikes' that, amazingly, really do toil to separate your lashes. It's like a mascara with a lash comb built in. Extraordinary.

It certainly lives up to its promise to coat each and every lash (no sum how short), though I did find the stumpy inner lashes nearer my nose were a bit harder to reach with the baton being shaped the way it is (and the 'spikes' only featuring on one side). But as with any innovative wand, all it takes is a bit of getting acclimatized to.

It's pitched as lightweight; in all honestly I have tested ones that texture more lightweight than this, but barely any were as good as this in the lengthening department. And the with greatest satisfaction bit, the thing I always love about Clinique mascaras (and Clinique products in general) is that they are tested to the max so you distinguish that they really are safe for those with sensitive eyes and contact lenses wearers like myself. Categorically worthwhile checking out once it hits counters, if for the wonder stick alone.

Astro-Med, Inc.'s Grass Technologies Donates Portable EEG System to Haiti ...

Astro-Med, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALOT) today announced that its subsidiary Tattle Technologies has donated a portable EEG system (electroencephalograph) to the Port-au-Prince Epilepsy Clinic in Haiti. The allotment is part of an international effort led by Dr. Lionel Carmant, head of the epilepsy clinic and epilepsy exploration program at Saint Justine Hospital in Montreal, and coordinated by the American Epilepsy Civilization (AES), to re-open the clinic following the earthquake which devastated Harbour-au-Prince on January 12, 2010.

"In order to treat people who adept a traumatic head injury as a result of the earthquake and the stormy aftershocks which followed, neurologists require the ability to explore in depth and analyze brain function. The international team of doctors on the territory in Port-au-Prince will be able to use our Comet EEG system to scan and take up patients who are in comas or coma-like states, and even patients who are ambulatory but in dire of scans to fully assess their responsiveness," said Marc Paliotta, Peach Technologies Product Manager.
