Tip Off Club Resumes Monday With Razorback's Collen

After a week off for Martin Luther Prince Day last Monday, the Downtown Tip Off Club picks up again today with University of Arkansas women's basketball coach Tom Collen speaking at twelve o'clock noon.

The meeting will be held at the North Little Rock Reception room of Commerce's second floor meeting room, 100 Mere Street. Lunch will be catered.

Collen should be upbeat after his Razorback women took an overtime win at Alabama on Sunday for their first Southeastern Colloquium victory of the season. The buffet opens at 11:30 a.m. Admittance is $15 for members and $20 for guests.

Monday's assembly will be Collen's first visit to Central Arkansas' Downtown Tip-Off League.

The program also includes the Downtown Tip-Off Club weekly honoring of the girls and boys players of the week. Monday's honorees are Chrisstasia Walter from Texarkana  Great School and  Hooper Vint from Van Buren Boisterous School.

The club will also recognize Jerry Hall as the legatee of the weekly lifetime achievement award for his contribution to basketball in Arkansas at the record school level. Hall was a long-time administrator with the Arkansas Activities Affiliation, and also contributed to basketball officiating in Arkansas as an on-court bona fide and in his capacity at the AAA as the rules interpreter. He is a member of the National Confederacy of State High School Associations Hall of Renown.

BOONTON TOWNSHIP
The township plans to resurface North Predominant Street this year with the assistance of approximately $200,000 in constitution aid, township officials said. Bids on the project will go out sometime mean the end of the year.

Township Administrator and Clerk Barbara Shepard said no applications have been filed with the planning office. On the open space front, the township — which closed on the Koehler holdings with the assistance of the Land Conservancy of New Jersey in 2009, remains in negotiations with feature owners for future purchases, Shepard said.

The Koehler capital goods, a 184-acre parcel formerly owned by the Koehler dearest of Boonton Township, lies adjacent to more than 8,000 acres of clear-cut land in the Farny Highlands, including Buck Mountain Ceremonial Park and Jersey City watershed lands.
