Don't let the rain ruin your hair!

I’m chagrined and tired of rain, sleet, snow, wind – all the elements that are keen on ruining my hair.

I am the proud owner of a fringe; it is my crowning refulgence. Without it I feel exposed, flawed. Yet at present, this wretched ride out is causing it to misbehave. “Will you please sit still,” I berate, only for it to roar with laughter in my face as it frizzes and parts as it pleases.

I have thought of distressing the beanie hat method. Let me enlighten you:  Wearing a high fitting woolly hat with the purpose of flattening the fringe. But what if one is wearing a bit of a do? I’d look like Marge Simpson. I have tried using mini hair straighteners to iron the changeable flyaways down, but more often than not, the result resembles a fright wig. Help is needed. Pronto.

Adam Reed, originative director at Percy &Reed salon in London says,

“Use the immediately product.  A good styling cream like Shu Uemura Art of Hair Tasai Cream (£21.50) will give submit and smooth hair – it’s not too lightweight or too heavy. Usually you wouldn’t seek product at the roots but as you want the fringe to stay in station, applying product here will give the desired staying power.  Use a spheroidal natural bristle brush (these will reduce static) and exhale-dry the fringe smooth. Avoid heated appliances like straighteners as these can fashion static, which will react with the humidity and wind.  Consummate with a shot of the cold button on the hair dryer to seal in the smoothness and cage in down the cuticle to prevent humidity getting in.  If you have curly hair, pay attention the cream as before, blow-dry with a round natural bristle underwood and then run a fine tooth comb through the hair from root to end and then do a cold shot from the hairdryer.”

Creepy crawlies can really get under your skin

She was hunting for nits, the bit eggs laid by lice that cement themselves to hair. Sguigna's own hair was infested and itchy, too -- a girlfriend later nitpicked her headmaster at her kitchen table -- but Sguigna shrugged at this dual transgression. It's a rite of childhood passage: H1N1 and seasonal flu may be the stuff of headlines fitting now, but pint-size parasites and fungi and the miseries they result in are a constant for Sguigna and other pediatricians all the time.

"I get a rosy amount of calls about lice all year long, and I treat to a lesser amplitude pinworm and ringworm," said Sguigna, whose intermediation is in Rockville. "When I tell parents" what their neonate has, she said, "sometimes they recoil."

Lice, scabies, pinworm and fungi such ringworm prowl in the environment, attaching themselves to new hosts every day, from grown-ups to little children. Each can be contagious, specifically when people find themselves cooped up inside in the winter or sitting cheek by jowl in group time at preschool.

Changes nail and offers questions that might be slightly less novel to teenage twins: how does one asseverate John and Edward apart? “On the show we always used to subscribe to like ‘John and Edward’ anyway, because our names were like, ‘John and Edward’ and it wasn’t ‘Jedward’,” says Edward, rather cryptically. “Now that’s Jedward’s stuck and we’re going by Jedward as our name… did I reply that?” Eh, not really.

Luckily John steps in with a more striking answer. “I used to have blonder hair, I have a pointy fact ear, my teeth are more crookeder, I have a scar on my nose… I have a mark set on my left eye. I’ve got a scar on my forehead. And that’s it.” In response, Edward reveals a unsocial scar on his upper lip.

Having apparently been through more wars than his younger sibling, does John touch short-changed that only his initial has made it into his group’s title?
