Controversial Judge John Doyle resigns his seat

60 year-old Doyle has been the case of much criticism and at times seems to be a lightning rod for controversy over what some courtroom observers call “cavalier” — and worse.
Last September, Doyle removed himself from a foreclosure acta b events after complaints were made about comments Doyle made about the attorneys in that case.
At a hearing, Doyle told attorney Farzad Milani, who was representing a bank, “that he would not do his toil while (Milani) sits in his office in Fort Lauderdale smoking his Cohiba cigars and drinking his lattes.”
Three months later, Doyle was removed from the rotation of a dozen judges who oversee over Baker Act and Marchman Act hearings — after he was accused of work people seeking treatment “drunks” and “stupefy addicts.”
In a letter to the governor dated January 7th, Doyle said that he will sack out on March 31st. Doyle wrote only, “It has been an honor and preference to have served for many years and I express my gratitude to the people of Florida for the sexy and challenging career.”
Florida Museum of Photographic Arts names new director
Melinda Nix Chavez, a longtime chieftain of cultural and business groups, has been named executive supervisor of the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts. She replaces Joanne Milani, who held the pillar for four years and will become the museum's curator.
The feisty little museum in downtown Tampa is an unthinkable success story that has often been overshadowed by the issues surrounding its much larger neighbor, the Tampa Museum of Art.
Founded in 2001 as the Tampa Gallery of True to life Arts, it was tucked into a second-floor storefront in Old Hyde Commons Village. In 2006 it changed its name and moved to 200 N Tampa St. in the centre of downtown.
Though the museum is still a small operation, its exhibitions have uniformly been far more ambitious than its space would indicate. With the support of savvy, connected collectors, the museum has mounted shows that have ranged from explorations of photography's anciently roots to some of the most provocative work being done by contemporary international artists. Its training programs and membership have grown steadily.
