“Neon baroque” was Karl Lagerfeld’s pithy take on the deviate from that his pallid palette and frothy surfaces had with the pillars of neon work the runway lights around the set.

This feeling of a Mozartian world re-located to the moon was reinforced by the finale of a beau, clad in a dazzling silver suit, escorting the bride.

The imaginative guess, the fastidious workmanship and the ethereal lightness should have made this show a stunner. Yet it liberal a quieter impression of beauty, delicacy and wonder at the craftsmanship.

There was something that was not fairly in harmony, especially with the daytime clothes. The famous Chanel be acceptable, edged with silver and shown with culottes trimmed in tulle, looked top-drawer standing still, but too much like ungainly shorts in motion. Uncontrived dresses with the bouffant hair gave a weird flashback to the 1960s.

The amassment worked best in its gossamer evening loveliness and in its details, from the neon-trivialize necklaces to silver boots with curved heels to the chrome half-gloves — a periapt of Mr. Lagerfeld himself. For a designer who is recognized for his pony tail, he gave the models gorgeous hair, each side as full as an 18th century wig, with a bow nesting at the front.

Heidi Montag throws a curve at young girls

No worry many readers are now wondering who Heidi Montag is and, more importantly, why they should mindfulness about her body image. True, Montag is just one of many celebutants who gained glory on "reality" television ("The Hills" to be exact), but my fear is that her pessimistic impact on young girls has the potential to outlast her 15 minutes of illustriousness.

For a young woman who is only in her 20s to undergo so many surgeries is an alarming dispose of of how far American women will go in the name of beauty. In previous generations, when women wanted to escalation their sex appeal, they turned to Chanel No. 5 and red lipstick. Today, women change to to potentially life-threatening surgeries along with monthly injections of Botox.

Those in favor of a speck cosmetic enhancement might argue that a woman has a right to do whatever she wants to do to perceive good about herself. That might be true -- but why are so many women content to lodge in a world in which feeling good about yourself means pulling and prodding and in many cases acid every inch of your body to reach "perfection?" While few of us would undergo the colossal number of procedures that Montag did, her obsession with perfection is certainly nothing new.

Fashion Week Sets Stage for Spring Wardrobes

Chanel’s Root 2010 couture show is at once romantic and alien. Light lemon yellows, bounds pinks and mint greens replace Chanel’s classic threatening, white and gold in this collection. “There’s not one gold button,” claimed Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s loaf designer and creative director. Instead, the show is a parade of whitish-grey and pastel, shimmering and light yet somehow solid. This pale and fair strangeness makes the collection seem era-less and detached, not backwards-looking like Dior’s or over-themed like Gaultier’s.

Models with fairy story hair (think bangs and bows) and iridescent greyish tights displayed shift dresses, tailored suits and evening gowns. Draped silk gowns in bon-bons or white hint at Greece, but are sustained by jeweled necklaces or pretty baubles, proving that Lagerfeld knows better than no more than to ape an old style. Other dresses are cloud-like: floating, ephemeral. The quiet otherworldliness of the aggregation comes to a climax when a male model in a metallic silvery suit (a knight in armor?) escorts a bride in flowing and contour-less white down the runway for the finale.
